SJP has spoken about her love for Fendi's iconic Baguette bag, one of her Sex And The City character Carrie Bradshaw's most famous accessories, in a new book calledFendi Baguette. The bag, which was the first "important item" to be loaned to the show - after months of stylist Patricia Field having to create looks from vintage finds - marked the beginning of Carrie's designer wardrobe, the actress reveals.
"Having the Fendi Baguette was a very big deal, and the gateway to everything else," Parker writes, the Financial Times reports. "It really opened the floodgates and influenced the storyline - especially Carrie's habit of spending more money on fashion than her home. The Baguette became a staple of Carrie's wardrobe and character… I recently archived both [my original] Baguettes to keep them in pristine condition. Now that I have two daughters, they can each have one."
The Fendi Baguette is involved in several important Sex and the Citystorylines: from when Carrie is robbed at gunpoint and her purple Baguette is stolen; to when she leaves the restaurant after being told her ex-boyfriend is to marry someone else and knocks over a chair with her Baguette; to when Samantha buys a fake Baguette when the friends are on holiday in Los Angeles.
