Aquascutum in administration

Picture
Following reports this morning, Aquascutum has confirmed that it has entered administration today and has appointed joint administrators Geoff Rowley and Phil Armstrong - partners at FRP Advisory LLP, the specialist restructuring, recovery and insolvency firm - to oversee the process.
"We are conscious of the value of the Aquascutum brand and its long-standing heritage and because of this are keen to enter in to early discussions with interested parties open to purchasing the business as soon as possible,"  joint administrator Geoff Rowley said this afternoon. "We will of course be conducting an urgent assessment of all stores and concessions and look to communicate to staff and suppliers at the very earliest opportunity."
The directors made the decsion to begin administration proceedings following "significant losses" over the past year. Between its British stores and its UK-based manufacturing sites, Aquascutum employs 250 people in the UK.

Billion dollar burberry

Picture
Burberry has joined a league of fashion heavyweights that includes Prada, Gucci and Louis Vuitton as a billion-pound label.
"We are the only global luxury goods brand from Britain," the label's finance director Stacey Cartwright told the Evening Standard. "We are unique and we are balanced across clothing and leather goods. Our other difference is our focus on digital. Shoppers can buy straight from the catwalk with iPads in stores and we now have more than 12 million Facebook fans."
The luxury British brand has reached record sales of     £1 billion in the past six months - an increase of 18 per cent, thanks to a boost in the British, French and Chinese markets.

Marchesa's new line

Picture
Marchesa  is reportedly preparing to launch a contemporary line. The British label, known for its red-carpet-worthy, opulent and feminine designs, is said to be completing a deal with LF USA - the US branch of Hong Kong-based investment company Li & Fung.
This would be the second acquisition for LF USA in a matter of weeks, if the WWD rumours come to fruition, after the company  signed a backing deal with New York-based label Vena Cava  earlier this month.
Marchesa would follow in the footsteps of a host of luxury brands that have launched contemporary lines, including Karl Lagerfeld's  Karl; Alice Temperley's  Alice By Temperley; Marc Jacobs'  Marc by Marc Jacobs;  Matthew Williamson's  MW by Matthew Williamson; Alexander McQueen's  McQ; Victoria Beckham's  Victoria, Victoria Beckham; Versace's  Versus; and  Alexander Wang's  T by Alexander Wang.

McQueen and Galliano

Picture
Karlie Kloss has spoken about her experiences with two of fashion's biggest names:Alexander McQueen and John Galliano.
"Alexander McQueen once told me before I went out on the runway - I was wearing a dress that was very long and difficult to walk in, and I was concerned the dress was going to get caught on my shoe - 'Don't worry, Karlie; if it does, just take it off and throw it, throw the dress. Remember - YOU own the dress, the dress does not own you!' It was a moment I will never forget."
Her most treasured possession, she admits, is her "Dior bag from John Galliano. He gave it to me after we shot my first campaign with Steven Meisel, and I cried when I opened it. It is the most beautiful, timeless Dior bag. It is such a special reminder of that time in my career; someday I will give it to my daughter."

Paul's Valentine

Picture
Natalie Portman has teamed up with Johnny Depp for Paul McCartney's self-directed new music video, My Valentine. The actors feature in a simple black and white video, gesturing and lip-syncing McCartney's lyrics to the mellow track, which is taken from his recent album, Kisses on the Bottom.
The video was unveiled at a private event on Friday evening in the LA store of daughter Stella McCartney, where guests included Miranda Kerrand Orlando Bloom, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin as well as Reese Witherspoon, Gwen Stefani, Kristen Stewart and Zooey Deschanel.

Jaeger sold!

Picture
Jaeger has been sold for almost £20 million to Better Capital, a Guernsey-based investment company.
Better Capital said in a statement today that it had acquired, "all of the secured debt and a 90 per cent stake in Jaeger Group Limited… The aggregate cost of the acquisition was £19.5 million, the substantial majority of which was in respect of the acquisition of the secured debt with the remainder in respect of the equity stake."
The British label - which saw profits fall more than 60 per cent from £2.22 million to £772,000 in 2011 - was acquired by British Fashion Council chairman Harold Tillman in 2002, but the retail mogul admitted in January that the label had not been immune to a difficult year for the UK high street.

Diana the muse

Picture
Princess Diana, is responsible for two of the footwear world's most iconic designs - or so says Christian Louboutin. The legendary designer created his first pair of shoes, the Love style, after being inspired by the late royal.
"It was 1992 and I was looking at this picture of Princess Diana taken while her husband was giving a speech. She looked so sad and bored, I thought: 'what would bring a smile to her face?'" he said.
He added that Diana also gave him the idea for cleavage shoes - styles that expose the top of a woman's toes.

Diors Future

Picture
Dior president and chief executive Sidney Toledanohas spoken for the first about Raf Simons'appointment as artistic director at the label.
"It's a very exciting time," Toledano told WWD. "I always said that the right person would come along when all the stars aligned and that's exactly what happened last week. Simons has already begun to lay out his vision for where he can take Dior in the future and I think we are all very excited by that vision."

Angies engaged!!!!

Picture
Angelina Joile and Brad Pitt are engaged, the jeweller who designed Jolie's ring has confirmed this evening. Robert Procop worked closely with Pitt in creating the piece, which Jolie wore for the first time last night at a private view of the new Chinese Art collection at the LA County Museum.
"Yes, it's confirmed," Pitt's manager, Cynthia Pett-Dante, told The Hollywood Reporter. "It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy. There's no date set at this time. Brad designed the ring."

The biggest names in bridal - including Vera Wang, Marchesa, Jenny Packham, Monique Lhuillier, Reem Acra(pictured), and Alfred Angelo - showed their spring/summer 2013 collections over the weekend, with Oscar de la Renta set to take to the catwalk today as the Week comes to a close.

Oscars new home

Picture
Oscar De La Renta is opening his first shop in London and, after a three-year search for the perfect location, is set to move in to hairdresser Nicky Clarke's Mount Street flagship.
Clarke, who has occupied the unit for more than 20 years, will move just along the road to 11 Carlos Place - next to Roland Mouret and Jenny Packham's stores, and just opposite the Connaught Hotel - in a deal said to be worth more than half a million pounds. Both Clarke and his landlord have refused to confirm whether he was paid the reported £500,000 premium to move, but his ex-wife and business partner Lesley Clarke said all parties are happy with the move.

There has been some major magical this new york fashion week, prabels heavenly couture gowns, marc jacobs major hats, jason wu's imperial army, altuzarras nomad gypsy, etc and marchesa mmagical heavanly beutiful collection was one of those major moments. The inspiration was royalty and the show opened with several regal gold and white looks that were very pretty and elegant. The white was clean, simple and refreshing and the golds were regal luxurious and added some glamour and magic to the clothes. The collection had a regal swan like feel. My first tingly moment was when a white feather swan like gown graced regally past me i thought swan princess ( and prefect oscar gown)The collection progressed into more literal royal gowns that were very period think tudor!!!There were 3 show stopping gowns the first a tulle chiffon organza gown with was black and whit with a fabulous gold detail on the trousseau, second was another tulle and chiffon gown with a silver and gold metallic detailed trousseau. The final gown was a royal queenly tudor gown with a taffeta satin skirt and red rose lace top. MY HEART SKIP SKIPS A BEAT!!!!!!
